Impertinent, and steamed

Joan of Arc was burned at the stake on this day in 1431.

"There is a certain impertinence in allowing oneself to be burned for an opinion." -- Anatole France.

Today’s Deathless Verse:

Back in the days of antiquity,
For a woman to speak was iniquity.
It wasn’t any walk in the park
For the likes of Joan of Arc.
If a female was inclined to boast,
  She was toast.
